Everything Happens Today

On any given day, when traffic is bad or the wrong side of the bed feels like the only option, I try to focus on one unavoidable, unfathomable and unmistakeable truth: everything that happens to us as a species, happens today.

The planet revolves. I get to see the same sun and stars that have just risen or set on another part of the world. People are born, people grow older and people die. People learn things, and build things, they start things and finish them. People will meet today, fall in love, fall out of love, will marry, will divorce, will separate and will stay together for the kids. People will write things, paint things, photograph things and otherwise attempt to memorialize and commemorate that which is of the utmost importance to them. People will find and discover new things, forget them and remember them all over again today.

And at its most frustrating, mundane, boring, normal or regular, isnt it still somewhat comforting to know that today, tomorrow and next week, no matter how consistent the hours may feel, will be filled with everything?
